The Toronto Maple Leafs are back in the playoffs, and with only two Canadian teams in the final 16, fans across the country will be rallying behind them.
The Maple Leafs have a long history but have failed to capture hockey’s holy grail since 1967. Last year Toronto’s favourite team made the playoffs after a three-year drought but was unable to get past a first-round matchup against the Washington Capitals.
Toronto has a much better chance this year after recording an impressive 105-point season which is good enough for third place in the Eastern Conference. Their first matchup against the Boston Bruins on April 12 will be the first step to the teams hopeful run.
If that is not enough to get you fired up, then how about a new Leafs-themed song from Toronto-born songwriter Azeem Haq. This may not be his first song inspired by the hockey team, but this one includes a special guest, Toronto’s favourite face-painted smoker, Dart Guy.
