We all knew that our west coast metropolis was a pretty special place and now it is getting the international recognition it deserves.  Vancouver, BC, has just been ranked the fifth best city for quality of living out of 231 cities worldwide.

Mercer, a global health, finance, and career consultant firm has just released their 2018 Quality of Living Rankings.  Vancouver, not only finished fifth in the world, it was the top North American city on the list.

The rankings were constructed using a whole list of criteria, which included:

  • Political and social environment
  • Economic environment
  • Socio-cultural environment
  • Medical and health considerations
  • Schools and education
  • Public services and transportation
  • Recreation
  • Consumer goods
  • Housing
  • Natural environment

Europe dominated the list with Vienna, Austria taking the top spot and Germany landing three of the top ten cities.  These are the top 15 cities for quality of living according to Mercer:

  4. Munich, Germany
  5. Vancouver, Canada
