Recently, Calgary was awarded a lifetime appreciation award for their many, many failed public art projects. Well, on the other side of the country Montreal is taking a different approach to a new art installation.
The city has officially started a $1 million contest for their next public art installation. The winning piece will be displayed at the central square of the Outremont site which will face the future campus of the University of Montreal.
Artists have until April 16, 2018, to submit their applications. Four finalists will be chosen by a selection panel, with each finalist being awarded $9,000 for their entry. The competition is available to any artist with a Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status that has resided within Quebec for a minimum of one year.

As a Calgarian, I would recommend not making a gigantic blue ring.
