KFC is Introducing a Chicken and Waffle Double Down for a Limited Time in Canada

In 2010 everyone was talking about the bread-less chicken sandwich introduced at KFC.  Some were appalled, others thought that the food gods had answered their every desire.  Either way, KFC is bringing back the Double Down, but this time it has a very distinct Canadian twist.

The fast-food chain has decided to double down on their own Double Down and is preparing to bring it back across Canada and US store between March 26 and April 29.  However, this time the all-chicken sandwich will have a sweet twist.  The Double Down is nothing without the two fried chicken filets in place of a bun, but inside the new version is a Belgian waffle drizzled with a maple aioli.

A press release from KFC Canada said, “the Double Down is our most talked about and demanded menu item in Canada, so we wanted to do something special exclusively for Canadian fans.  We know fans have been craving chicken and waffles on our menu, and we’re happy to provide this unique take on the trendy food pairing. The Maple aioli sauce is a sweet nod to KFC’s Canadian fans.”

The original Double Down was KFC’s best-selling new item ever, selling 350,000 “sandwiches” in ten days.  Soon Canadians will get a chance to break that record with this sweet, greasy meal.

KFC is even offering a free Waffle Double Down to the first 50 people at these select locations on March 24:

  • 1365 Queen Street East, Toronto, ON
  • 12121 72nd Avenue, Surrey, BC
  • 9100 Jane Street, Vaughan, ON
  • 545 Westmorland Place, Saint John, NB
  • 565 Albert Street, North Regina, SK
