The debate has been going on for some time now, that Canadians would prefer a 4-day work week over the typical 5-day week that is standard now.  The idea is instead of working eight hours over the span of five days, that we would work ten hours over four.  The same number of hours worked, the same amount of pay, more time off clumped together.

The 4-day work week has been instilled by many companies across the country and citizens are asking for more.  Many petitions have been started on the internet including one that gained nearly 50,000 signatures.  So far there is yet to be anything successful come from the campaigns.

Some Canadians are not yet willing to give up on the 3-day weekend and have kept the debate going on platforms such as Reddit.  While there are a lot of arguments for the change, not everyone is on board.

Ultimately, it seems that the schedule would work for some people and not others.  On a person to person basis, some do not mind the longer hours knowing that there is extended time off at the end of it.  Others find that ten-hour days are too long and would prefer to have the extra time between shifts.

It is clear that the best way to settle the debate would be to have employers offer both schedules as an option.
